NEW LEGION TOYS REVEALED!

Hype! New toys for Star Wars Legion have been spotted over on the AMG Twitch stream. Lets dive right into what was revealed and prepare yourself for my ramblings.

**Disclaimer: I only play GAR at time of writing so I may be a little biased towards their reveals**

YODA...YOU SEEK YODA!

First up is the Grand Master of the Jedi himself, Yoda. From what AMG showed off, it looks like we're going to have at least 2 buildable poses, maybe even 3 in this kit and boy do they all look amazing. Each one channels Yoda's character to perfection and he just looks so dynamic. My personal favourite and the one I'll be building is the jumping Yoda (right hand side) as I like my Jedi to be in an action pose.

Looking at his card, he is pretty expensive at 200 points but I think his rules justify the expense.

First off, the stats. 5 Health (not too bad but definitely keep him hidden behind some clones), 4 Courage (good, not much will panic near him) and both a melee and ranged attack. He surges to both crit and defence. Yoda's Lightsaber is 4 red so pretty choppy but a small lightsaber means a small dice pool. He has Force Wave as his ranged attack (Range 1-2, Blast, Suppressive, 4 Black) which I'm currently unsure on, It's nice to be versatile and I can see it being used to pile suppression onto a already supressed unit but I doubt I'll be relying on it too much.
He also has 3 Force Upgrade slots (goes well with Master of the Force 2) and 1 Command slot. I'm thinking maybe Force Reflexes and Force Barrier to start.
Immune Pierce is pretty standard on lightsaber wielders so no surprises to see it on Yoda's card.

Guidance is a pretty cool rule. It allows a Friendly Trooper Unit with Range 1-2 to make a free non attack action. I can see this being handy for grabbing objectives or getting that vital unit in range to shoot or for just taking a token on a unit that needs to use its actions for other things.

Ataru Mastery: Well this makes Yoda king of the hill. He can perform TWO attack actions in a turn and when he does, he gains a dodge token. This mastery also allows him to gain an aim token after he defends against an attack. Furthermore, Ataru Mastery has built in deflect so when you spend a dodge, the defender suffers a wound for each Surge result rolled. Quite fitting for the Grand Master of the Jedi. I don't think you're going to want to be attacking twice every turn but it'll definitely come in handy for clearing out chaff or trying to take down your opponents power piece.

Overall I really like Yoda. Brings something different to the table and is certainly going to be very fun to use. We don't know what his commands cards will do but I'm sure they'll give him Charge, Relentless, Jump etc as that does seem to be Yoda's weakness right now. Speed 1 also isn't great but luckily there is a gunship that seems perfect to deliver Yoda right into the heart of the fight.

LAAT/LE Patrol Ship, requesting permission to launch

The Republic and Empire (but who cares about them) finally receive some air support. The cards are identical for each Faction.120 points,  Health 8, Resilience 6 is pretty good and the Twin Laser Cannons are ok as a base weapon but nothing to rave about. It has 3 upgrade slots, Pilot, Ordinance and what appears to be a Comms slot? (Damn you blurry photos). We haven't seen any Ordinance cards yet but it would be a good guess to expect some sort of missiles as that's what they have in Rebels/ Clone Wars.

Did someone say Pilots?

Both Pilots have the Field Commander keyword which allows them to be your nominated commander if you don't want a regular commander in the army building step. Both come with a free action that are similar but Commander Fox is pretty a better option. Clearing Suppression and giving a Surge token is probably better than an Aim and giving a suppression. Governor Pryce can be used in any Imperial Heavy vehicle though so there may be some combos I'm not aware of that make her horrible to face.

Back to the actual vehicle, it has all the keywords you'd expect to see. Armour, Hover, Cover, Immune: Blast and Suppressive. All extra ways to keep it alive and zooming round the table dropping your favourite Speed 1 Force user into melee range. I don't think you'll be transporting much else other than Yoda or Vader but I'm sure people will surprise me.

Overall: Like it. Will definitely get one for my GAR. Not sure how much I'll use it in game as GAR are pretty expensive but I'm looking forward to trying it out. Probably a harder choice for the Empire are they are generally cheaper so have more points to play with. Looks badass if nothing else. Any future upgrade card reveals may change the above.

RAWRGWAWGGR

Wookies for the GAR! Not much was revealed about these guys except that they'll be a new cross faction box (Rebels/ GAR) with new sculpts and more melee focussed but all previous upgrades will be able to be used. I have to say these guys look amazing and will definitely grab a couple of boxes to fight alongside my GAR and Yoda.

"It's really bad. That droid's extremely intelligent."

Following on from the recent release of the tactical droid, it's super cousin in on it's way. Again, not much revealed but it's a cool model and Kalani is a great character in both Clone Wars and Rebels (did not realise until I was googling Kalani for this article that it was the same character!) I wonder if we'll get Kalani and a generic commander option.

Magna Guards! When I picked up Legion last year one of my first questions was why weren't Grevious' infamous guards already released. Well they're on the way now. Love the pose of this guy, hopefully the rest are just as cool. Not much information released other than that they can take wounds for commanders. Will definitely want a box to go alongside Grevious.

Rebel Truck? Sure. Why not.

Not going to lie, I don't like this hence why it's at the end and why there won't be too many words. Enjoy the pictures, let me know if it's any good.

Well there you have it, all (hopefully) the new releases from the AMG stream overnight. Plenty to get excited about for when we can all game in person again. Now, where did I put my white paint?

Till next time, HAPPY WARGAMING.

Blast from the Past - An Army Showcase all the way from 2017.

Army Showcase: Sam's Space Wolves (2017 Edition)

"Blood of Fenris is on your hands, and there will be a reckoning between us, Magnus. This I swear upon the blade of Mjalnar" - Russ

I have been playing Space Wolves since I first started 40k many years ago. Since then, I have dabbled with other chapters (Crimson Fists, Salamanders, Ultramarines to name a few) but I have always come back to the wolves. I love their fluff and I often find that reading a space wolf related book will inspire me to paint some more models.

Earlier this year, the Warzone Fenris series was annouced GW which saw the Space Wolves embark on a great hunt to recover all the lost wulfen from across the galaxy. As a result, I dusted off all my old models and decided to repaint them and for the first time, decided on a Great Company to model them after. Krom Dragongaze and his Drakeslayers. Krom has a fantastic model and got an updated profile in the Curse of the Wulfen supplement. The Drakeslayers also got a nice formation in the same supplement so it seemed like the time was right.

Fenris - Home of the Mighty Space Wolves

Over the last year, I have slowly been repainting (and in some cases, painting) my wolves.

Below are what I have finished so far.

Venerable Dreadnoughts, Loki Redshield & Skjaldulf Frostbreath

Loki Redshield, my old custom wolf lord who fell in glorious battle many years ago against the Tau.

Skjaldulf Frostbreath, armed with Helfrost cannon and frostclaw.

Beware enemies of Russ!

A portion of Krom's Wolf Guard

The Red Wolf (L) and Olvir Fellhands

Pack leader Ingvar The Great (L) & Asmund Wyrdbane

The terminators of the Drakeslayers are not to be underestimated. It is told that they have even slain a Demon Prince of Slannesh and lived to tell the tale.

Einir Windchaser - Wolf Guard biker

WHEELIE

Einir Windchaser - Wolf Guard biker

Canis Wolfborn/ Havard Frost-talon & his Thunderwolf Cavalry

Grey Hunters of the Drake Slayers

These guys are vital for securing objectives.

2 Rune Priests

3x Long Fangs, keeping the main army safe from afar.

So there is everything I have finished so far. On the table I have my Wulfen, Krom Dragongaze and a few more terminators to add some more firepower to that squad. Keep an eye on the blog for the next instalment of the Space wolf showcase.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well it is now 3 years since I posted that article and I am ashamed to say I have only just finished painting my Wulfen. I'm also pretty sure those terminators are still in the same stage of painting as they were 3 years ago. Maybe with the Saga of the Beast update I will dig them out the box and repaint. Look out for an updated army, and possibly unit, showcase coming soon. I'll be showing off lots of new characters and units that I have painted in the last 3 years.

Sam's Top 10 Shiny Pokemon

Welcome all to my Top 10 Shiny Pokemon.

Disclaimer: This list is purely from Pokemon I remember, or have seen in game at some point. I didn't look at all 890 Pokemon first.

Everyone loves shiny Pokemon, ever since we were introduced to them in Generation 2 and we were gifted red Gyrados. The joy of seeing a Pokemon sparkle is something that will never get old.

So grab a brew, maybe a biscuit and join me on a journey through my top 10 shiny Pokemon.

At number 10 we have: Sirfetch'd
A recent addition to the Pokemon universe, Sirfetch'd can be found in the Galar region. As a lover of gold shinies, Sirfetch'd was able to sneak into my top 10. That reminds me, I must start hunting for one on Pokemon Sword.

Number 9: Bellossom
I have no idea why I like shiny Bellossom, I just do. The purple works wonders and it makes it look so adorable. You will often find me using my shiny Bellossom in Max Raid battles as it looks even cuter when it is dynamaxed.
Number 8: Goodra
I only recently discovered shiny Goodra, despite it being out for a few years now and it instantly became a firm favourite. It's pastel theme is a vast improvement from the purple/ grey.

Number 7: Decidueye
Despite not playing any of the Gen 7 games all the way through, the Rowlet line is one of my favourite grass types of all time. Decidueye's unusual typing and bad-ass archer aesthetic makes it one of my favourite pokemon of all time. Add in a sweet blue black cloak (blue being my favourite colour) and it makes the cut.

Number 6: Luxray
It's gold, it's majestic, did I mention it is gold?
Number 5: Steelix
See above. It just looks awesome! Steelix beats Luxray for the sole purpose of improving on it's pre-evolution shiny. Onix just looked poorly whereas when it evolved it became pure gold!

Number 4: Lucario
Lucario ranks as one of my all time favourite Pokemon and it is partly due to it's shiny form, partly due to it's starring role in it's movie (Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, it's amazing. Check it out if you haven't watched it). Again, the Gold/ Yellow plays a massive part here (sense a theme?) as does my general bias for Lucario. If he or Riolu are available in a game, you can be sure I will catch one as soon as possible. It's mega evolution is also majestic AF!

Number 3: Crobat
Another one of my all time favourite Pokemon, I have been a fan of Crobat since it was introduced in Gold/ Silver. It has a really cool design and is also pretty handy in-game. Also gives you an excuse to catch one of the gajillion Zubat that plague the many dungeons and caves across the Pokemon games. Plus, you guessed it, that subtle gold under-wing contrasts so well to the pink/ purple body.

Number 2: Metagross
I mean, who doesn't like shiny Metagross. It just looks amazing! Gold and silver are a great combo plus Metagross is just a boss in any game. Plus it can learn Meteor Mash.

Number 1: Umbreon
This was a really close call between all the top 3 but I was kindly reminded by Nic that whenever I was asked for my favourite shiny, Umbreon was always the first Pokemon mentioned. So here it is, my favourite shiny. I think the blue really compliment the black and there is just something about it that draws me in. It's also my favourite Eeveelution.
So there you have it, thanks for sticking with my rambling throughout this article. What do you guys think of my top 10? Who would you include? Let me know in the comments below.
